Ideal" wheel system

Post by kepler » Tue Jun 23, 2009 11:40 am

Hi,

Another day, in another forum, regarding the formula:

C(n,k,t,m)=b

I was thinking that for m=t, the ideal wheeling system would be:

b >= Comb(n,t) / Comb(k,t)

For instance: if we have a lotto 6/49, and we pick 10 numbers, and we wish to have a 4 if we have 4 numbers right, then:

b >= Comb(10,4) / Comb(6,4) = 210 / 15 = 14

But what if we want to guarantee 3 if we have 5 right in 10, for instance? How do we introduce the m variable, different from t?

Kind regards,

Kepler
