Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Just to intrigue your appetite for more, I present some preview screen shots of the development stage for Wheel generator public release. This, by all means, is not the final layout but you can get an idea of how things will be like. Changes will definitely occur so... please don't start asking what is every feature and little bit you see here, at least not at the moment! You can comment of course on anything you want! More details and an in depth discussion of the final features to be included in this first release will come the following days/weeks. So, for your eyes only... enjoy!
Any latest news regarding development will be posted as usual.

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Is this an offspring of your personal wheel generator or a completely new program? Just curious.

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Hi Maryland,
this project is the outcome of the development in the personal WG versions over the years. It incorporates the best tools and methods I have devised so far from the personal WG builds (which are mainly for testing-evaluation purposes) and adds on it several new features such as filters, which are more closely to what users actually need when playing with wheels. The whole design and operation has become quite mature, thus it is now suitable to get out as a public release. The screen shots are from the new project and how it forms; not from my personal WG builds.
cheers

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Well... WG pleasurably surprises me every so often! Today I'm very happy because it managed to make some memorable new world records the last couple of days!
La Jolla Covering Repository will host them shortly.
c(17,7,5,5)<=399 (ex 405)
c(23,7,5,5)<=1974 (ex 1975)
c(24,7,5,5)<=2597 (ex 2609)
c(25,7,5,5)<=3012 (ex 3163, Rade Belic indicates 3159) !!!
The same powerful engine of the personal WG builds will be used in the public release of course
cheers

And today it managed further improvements
c(22,7,5,5)<=1691 (ex 1701)
c(24,7,5,5)<=2589 (ex 2597 above)
c(25,7,5,5)<=2952 (ex 3012 above) !!!!!!!!

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Here is another set of screen shots.
This shows the import covering system. It allows importing either from a file or from the clipboard.
This one shows the coverage computation of the current covering. Some new enhancements include the ability to compute the coverage for various L and extending the capability to compute coverage for higher m values. Typical well known programs can compute this sort of information only for L=1 and m up to 7.
And this is how the program outputs the coverage information to the clipboard.
If you have any suggestions/comments regarding this part of WG please feel free to post them.
cheers

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Well, I haven't post recently on development because I'm about to take over a place in a big software company as a programmer/analyst thus the delay for news posted here. As soon as this is over,relocate cities, get used to the new environment and any other issues which have to be addressed, I'll post news on WG development. Definitely my available time will become limited but this doesn't affect my desire to make WG available. However, since a job like that is a life time opportunity, this is first priority at the moment. Keep in touch.

Re: Development - Wheel Generator 1.5
Just a small update. The development will resume within the next week. I have settled down to the new place and the new job although I don't have yet an internet connection setup at my new home so I'll not be able to be in touch at the moment. As soon as this is arranged, everything will be back to normal.
Also happy Easter and try to have a good time whatever you do!
