Development - Wheel Generator 1.7

Post by lottoarchitect » Sun Dec 28, 2008 7:04 pm

Although this is not the best time during vacations to start work again on Wheel Generator, I'd like to announce that the development of the new version has already begun. So far, the following have been made:
  • Fixed some "glitches" to the GUI and added a few more informative messages when things go wrong.
  • Added a progress indicator and stop button to the detailed hits analysis. In WG 1.6, if the computations require a lot of time, the user has to wait for the task to be completed and the program looks freezed till these are over.
  • Fixed an issue when importing coverings with L>1 that could contain duplicate blocks which were removed by default. Now if duplicate blocks are detected, the user is being asked if he wants them to be imported or discarded.
  • Greatly improved the computations of Filtered Driven (FD) coverings by a factor of at least 4x!
  • Added the ability to auto-remove to L% for the FDs evaluation; not only to the overall coverage as currently WG 1.6 does. This also works for the manual removal of blocks.
Current development focuses on the presets functionality which is requested and it is under development.

Feel free to suggest or comment on anything about WG. This is your opportunity for input so to make WG work the way you want it to behave. If you believe something could be done differently or if something crucial is missing, be my guest.

If I understand your question correctly, you want these blocks to remain as is, no matter what other blocks WG may add, change or whatever to generate other guarantees. Essentially you want this wheel to reside within the construction WG will attempt. This is the lock lines feature and is scheduled for addition in WG. Also please address such questions to the relevant forum. This is more a development question/request and there is already such a thread running; just to keep things a bit tidy ;)

Sorry LA, that's not what I meant.

There's no need to "add" or "generate" other blocks different from those belonging to the first wheel (´mother` wheel). As the player is assuming that one of the blocks of the ´mother` wheel is a winner, the aim is to play only blocks from it, guaranteeing a 3if6, 4if6, 5if6 prize, of course with a small amount of blocks.

So you say to import such a covering and pick only the necessary amount required among those blocks to maintain a defined guarantee? Building around a "mother wheel" is another technique anyway.

Well, that's easy to be done since the introduction of the FD concept makes this a straight forward process. I'll add this for the next release.

The filters will be operating in normal mode only. This import process contradicts to the operation of guide filters (FD).

The huge speedup improvement of the FDs calculations now allow the building engine to produce quicker improvements. As an example, I'll use my favorite 18,6,4,6 which was analyzed at the development of WG 1.6. For a reference viewtopic.php?f=2&t=76.

My 18 selected numbers are: 3,6,7,8,12,15,19,23,24,25,26,28,30,34,35,39,43,46
Filters: Sums accept 80-160, Odd/even accept 2-4 and a number group accept 2-3 where the set is: 6,7,8,24,25,26,28,30 which now all set to be guides for the covering. The produced outcome in the WG 1.7 process is:

c(18,6,4,6) = 38 FD 100% (missing 883/18564 unconditional 4if6 = 95.24%)

Just a small update on the development. The presets operation is completed. This feature allows saving all the setup parameters of WG: covering parameters, optimization, My numbers panel and all the settings of the filters. Offered a load/save/delete functionality and also the presets are filtered accordingly to display only valid presets for the selected parameters when importing a particular covering. The complete presets list is available at the standby mode of WG.
