Wheel Generator 1.6 officially released on 21 December 2008!

Post by lottoarchitect » Sat Dec 20, 2008 8:58 pm

Well... officially Wheel Generator 1.6 is available now! The download links are activated! :D

Registered users of Wheel Generator 1.5, please login to your designated download area at the website to obtain the latest FULL release. You have to copy the "wg.lic" file from WG 1.5 folder to the installed folder of WG 1.6. It is recommended to completely uninstall WG1.5 from your system after installing WG 1.6.

For the history, Wheel Generator 1.5 was first launched on 21 November 2008.

Hi Anastasios,
Will future versions of Wheel Generator 1.6 support multithreading?
I notice my dual core CPU only shows 50% usage when the program is running.

This is something I have in plans, however converting the engine to multithreading is not easy to do in this particular class of problem addressed by WG. WG would greatly benefit from multithreading of course, however this has to be done without ruining the core logic, which in its essence is linear (cannot be done in parallel). A few things can be paralleled however.

FYI: If any use an AMD processor, they can download this and it will read 50% but it actually uses 100% of both cores!

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer Version 1.1.4 - The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.

Alcymart, have you indeed used this utility and you actually noticed a speed improvement in WG on AMDs? I say that because WG does not do "hidden" tricks to the windows API, so this optimizer seems to be irrelevant for WG's boost.

LA,
would you mind to explain better the "Hits" and Hits Filtered) in Display Menu, namely the usefulness of "Fold range at --".

Cheers,
Frank

Happy New Year for everyone !

LA,

is it possible to Import blocks (lines) from a text file or clipboard and, assuming that, in such blocks (lines) one block is a winner (6 hits, for example), WG picks some of these imported blocks to make a wheel with a guarantee 3if6 or 4if6?

Example:

Let's import 3 blocks (lines):

01 02 03 04 05 06
01 02 03 04 05 07
01 02 03 04 06 07

It's a wheel of 7 numbers, no matter which guarantee it has;

The player aim is to get 4 hits if one of these 3 blocks has 6 hits, playing one or two of these 3 blocks and not any different block.

So, it looks like that the block: 01 02 03 04 05 06 is one possible solution that guarantees 4 numbers if 6 drawn numbers are in the first wheel .
Cheers,
Frank

Hi Frank and Happy New Year to everyone!

If I understand your question correctly, you want these blocks to remain as is, no matter what other blocks WG may add, change or whatever to generate other guarantees. Essentially you want this wheel to reside within the construction WG will attempt. This is the lock lines feature and is scheduled for addition in WG. Also please address such questions to the relevant forum. This is more a development question/request and there is already such a thread running; just to keep things a bit tidy ;)

cheers
